2008 Pinnacle Awards - Communiqué from the President

The countdown to the 2008 Pinnacle Awards is on!

The best work of CPRS Hamilton members will be showcased at the 2008 Pinnacle Awards dinner on Wednesday, April 2, 2008. Following upon last year’s rave reviews, we are pleased to announce that the award dinner will once again be held at the Ancaster Old Mill at 544 Old Dundas Road in Ancaster.

There have been several significant changes to the awards program this year, so here are the highlights you can look forward to:

The awards

This year we have introduced several new categories in the Communications Programs division including:

  • Marketing Communications,
  • Community Relations,
  • Media Relations,
  • Issues/Crisis Management, and
  • Government Relations.

We have also added an Electronic & Interactive Communications category in the Communications Projects division to acknowledge the evolving trends in public relations including social media, web casting, pod casts and blogs.

The addition of these new categories more accurately reflects the practices of our members as well as ensuring alignment between our awards and the CPRS National Awards of Excellence.

There are changes to the application for Special Awards this year as well. There is now a new application process to submit a nomination for a special award category, and all special award nominations will be judged by an independent panel of judges.

The judging

The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that David Morelli, Vice-President/Director at Cohn & Wolfe will once again lead the judging effort.

The entries

Remember, all CPRS members in good standing as of December 31 are eligible to enter the Pinnacle Awards. If you do not have a CPRS-Hamilton membership, you can still enter for a Pinnacle Award, provided your submission is accompanied by an application with payment for a membership in CPRS-Hamilton.

From issues management, community relations, corporate identity or external communications, now is your time to share your public relations innovations and creativity and reach for the Pinnacle in public relations.

Don’t delay: The deadline for this year’s entries is February 8, 2008!
