Sheridan Students Make Their Mark

Sheridan logoOakville, Ont. (February 15, 2008) – With two months left until graduation, Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning Corporate Communications students are already making their mark in the professional world by planning the prestigious Canadian Public Relations Society Hamilton’s 2008 Pinnacle Awards. The event, taking place April 2, 2008 at the Old Mill in Ancaster, will celebrate the excellence in PR from the CPRS Hamilton Chapter region.

“Every professional has to start somewhere and CPRS proudly supports these students,” says Nancy Hutton, CPRS Pinnacles Co-Chair. “As representatives of the PR profession we feel it is important to allow the future PR practitioners to become involved in such an important event.”

The collaboration is an important first for both CPRS and Sheridan. This year CPRS has chosen an outside source for event planning as opposed to previous years when board members have taken on the task. Sheridan is the first post-secondary institution to be given the honour of coordinating the event.

Our students have been handed a big task but I am confident that they will succeed in making this an event to be remembered,” says Andrew Coxhead, Corporate Communications program coordinator.

Students in Corporate Communications will not only receive a graduate certificate upon program completion, but can also add real-life experiences, like planning the Pinnacle Awards, to their resumes.
